To Whom It May Concern,

While assisting with the 2011 Annual Dunes Clean-up in January 2011 our members met Valerie Rogers. She presented “Got Desert ID” to us and we instantly knew this would be a program that De Anza Rescue would support. We walked away with “Got Desert ID cards and flyers. We now distribute these to those we come in contact with during a search and rescue mission.

We know from experience that many ride without ID and if they do their campsite location is unknown if the individual is incapacitated. This puts a huge burden upon law enforcement and the EMS teams arriving at a scene. With a “Got Desert ID” card attached to their vehicle First Responders are now able to locate their campsite and advise their friends and family of the accident and gather medical history of the injured individual. Without this information the camping party may not know for hours that their loved one was involved in an accident and transported to a medical facility out of county.

The members of De Anza Rescue Unit support Russ and Valerie Rogers in their dedication to “Got Desert ID”.
